Limited Edition Coconut M&Ms Review

by

Limited Edition Coconut M&MsI posted about Coconut M&Ms coming out this summer as a limited edition a few months ago. Since then I had kind of forgot about them and was not even looking for them. Then today I found some of the Transformers Strawberried Peanut Butter M&Ms on sale for 50 cents each at a gas station and right next them was a display with the new Limited Edition Coconut M&Ms for 2/$2. I ended up getting some of each, as I loved the Transformers ones and the coconut ones sounded at least interesting.

Limited Edition Coconut M&MsThe Coconut M&Ms are larger than normal M&Ms, but they do have 1.5 ounces of them in a package compared the 1.4 ounces of the Transformers ones. However, I do think this is still less than a normal M&Ms bag of this size. There are three colors of M&Ms in the coconut package. They are green, white, and brown. Some of the Coconut M&Ms have the normal M stamped on them while others have a palm tree with M design, umbrella with M design, or sun with M design.

The Coconut M&Ms definitely do have a taste of coconut to them, but it is not too overpowering. It does, however, seem to make the aftertaste very different and more lingering than regular M&Ms. At first I thought they were pretty good, but the aftertaste kind of spoils the enjoyability of them. I think those that like coconut will like these and if you only do not like coconut because of the odd texture of coconut shavings in some candies and not because of the flavor then you might like this because it is regular chocolate texture. If you do not like coconut, though, then you should stay clear of these. Personally I do not usually mind coconut, but because of the aftertaste I will stick fall back to peanut butter M&Ms and am glad I have some Transformers Strawberried Peanut Butter ones to enjoy next.

Gas stations seem to be the place to find M&M limited editions. That is the only place I found the Strawberried Peanut Butter ones and the Coconut M&Ms, however I only saw the Coconut ones at the one gas station and I do not even remember which state that was in, as we have been driving all over the country this summer and stopping at many gas stations along the way.

I work at Walgreens and we sell limited editions flavors of M&M’s right when they come out due to some corporate affiliation. I love coconut, and I am addicted to these M&M’s. I didn’t find any bad aftertaste, quite the contrary actually. They leave a taste in my mouth that makes me want to keep eating more and more…
