Holiday Chocolate Chips

by Kjersti Wasiak

In honor of the upcoming Christmas holidays I have noticed some seasonal chocolate chips recently. The first ones I noticed were the swirled mint ones that were in the Limited Edition Mint Swirled Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough I reviewed here. These chips are green and brown swirled and are mixed in the premade cookie dough. I do not think they exist on their own.

I have also noticed some other holiday swirled chips packaged just as chips. They are called Swirled Holiday Premier White Colored Morsels and are made by Nestle Toll House, who also made the limited edition cookie dough. I think they are just white chocolate with no special flavoring. They are colored holidayish with red and white swirled and green and white swirled ones. They seem like they would be good for making your own holiday cookies how you want. The flavor aspect is not as interesting as the mint ones, but considering the mint ones made crispy cookies I would prefer to see the chips on their own than packaged as the pull apart cookie dough versions.

Another type of seasonal chocolate chips I noticed are Guittard Smooth Melty Petite Mint Chips. These chips are white colored (probably made of white chocolate). They have red, white, and green sprinkles on the bottoms of the chips. These are also mint flavored. Thus these seem like the best option for making good chewy holiday chip themed cookies that are not just regular chocolate chip flavor. By the way these ones I actually bought to make chewy cookies with, since the premade cookie dough disappointed me.
