Limited Edition Coconut M&Ms Review

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Limited Edition Coconut M&MsI posted about Coconut M&Ms coming out this summer as a limited edition a few months ago. Since then I had kind of forgot about them and was not even looking for them. Then today I found some of the Transformers Strawberried Peanut Butter M&Ms on sale for 50 cents each at a gas station and right next them was a display with the new Limited Edition Coconut M&Ms for 2/$2. I ended up getting some of each, as I loved the Transformers ones and the coconut ones sounded at least interesting.

Limited Edition Coconut M&MsThe Coconut M&Ms are larger than normal M&Ms, but they do have 1.5 ounces of them in a package compared the 1.4 ounces of the Transformers ones. However, I do think this is still less than a normal M&Ms bag of this size. There are three colors of M&Ms in the coconut package. They are green, white, and brown. Some of the Coconut M&Ms have the normal M stamped on them while others have a palm tree with M design, umbrella with M design, or sun with M design.

The Coconut M&Ms definitely do have a taste of coconut to them, but it is not too overpowering. It does, however, seem to make the aftertaste very different and more lingering than regular M&Ms. At first I thought they were pretty good, but the aftertaste kind of spoils the enjoyability of them. I think those that like coconut will like these and if you only do not like coconut because of the odd texture of coconut shavings in some candies and not because of the flavor then you might like this because it is regular chocolate texture. If you do not like coconut, though, then you should stay clear of these. Personally I do not usually mind coconut, but because of the aftertaste I will stick fall back to peanut butter M&Ms and am glad I have some Transformers Strawberried Peanut Butter ones to enjoy next.

Limited Edition Cap’n Crunch’s Home Run Crunch

Limited Edition Cap'n Crunch's Home Run CrunchEarlier this month at Walmart I spotted the Limited Edition Cap’n Crunch’s Home Run Crunch. Normally I do not buy cereal, but I could not pass this one up because it is baseball themed and we are on a baseball road trip all summer. Limited Edition Cap’n Crunch’s Home Run Crunch has a fun box design, but inside it is not as cool as the box makes it seem.

The box has the Cap’n ready to bat a baseball that says Crunch-a-tize Me Cap’n on the front with a baseball diamond in the background and a bowl of Limited Edition Cap’n Crunch’s Home Run Crunch in the foreground. The back of the box has some baseball themed games to play. This includes a word search with baseball terms, a fill in the missing letters game also using baseball terms, and follow the path game to see which kid hit the baseball the farthest.

The cereal inside the box is supposed to be special because it has baseball themed shapes. However, the shapes are rather disappointing. There are supposed to be baseball bats and baseball shapes inside. While there definitely are red and blue shapes they really do not look much different than Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries other than the fact their is not all the colors that variety has. The baseball shapes are fine, as Crunch Berries are circular, but the baseball bats are rather sad looking. Most of the baseball bat shapes just do not look that much like bats, especially when compared to the nice cover art of the cereal box. Anyways the cereal tastes the same as Crunch Berries, which are not too bad in my opinion. Just the baseball theme is not that great other than perhaps the box as a collectible, but that is not a possibility when the box has to travel over 10,000 miles in our car before we get home.

Limited Time Shock Your Airheads

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Limited Time Shock Your AirheadsI am always on the look out for special Airheads, as my brother loves Airheads and it gives me an excuse to actually buy the limited edition item. The other day I found a Limited Time one that is called Shock Your Airheads. It is not as interesting as the movie tie in ones that often come with some special collectable item, such as the Pop Up Pooch card that they put in the Hotel for Dog Airheads. The Shock Your Airheads also do not really even have any special flavors like the Rock Your Mouth Airheads had. Instead the only thing special about the Shock Your Airheads limited time Airheads is that it comes with a super sour gel pack.

The Shock Your Airheads package comes with the normal amount of 6 Airheads bars. Inside there is one small gel pack about the size of a ketchup pack. The pack has what they call Super Sour Gel. My brother did not end up even trying it because the whole pack was sticky on the outside and was just too big of a mess to deal with before it was even opened. There are three different colors of the sour gel, although only one random color per pack. The one in the package I bought was a reddish orange. I am not sure if the different colors are actually flavored differently or if they are just differently colored. It really is just a sticky worthless limited time Airheads and it would have been better to just get him a pack of regular Airheads.

Limited Edition Michael Jordan Gatorade Bottles

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Limited Edition Michael Jordan BottleIn honor Michael Jordan being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame Gatorade is releasing six limited edition Gatorade Bottles. Gatorade has been one of the brands Michael Jordan has been partners with for a while. The limited edition bottles are the 32 ounce size ones like the Limited Edition Super Bowl XLIII ones. The bottles will not only include special labels, but also special flavors.

The limited edition Michael Jordan Gatorade bottles are to be in three special flavors. The three flavors are called Championship Blue, Championship Gold, and Championship Red. The blue flavor is berry cherry, the gold flavor is citrus orange, and the red flavor is berry blend. I am not sure if these are exactly unique flavors, as I do not know all the flavors Gatorade has these days, or they are just renamed flavors.

The bottles labels commemorate moments from Jordan’s basketball career. The labels include images from moments in his career along with text about his career. The labels also feature the design of his signature next to the G logo part of the label. There are six different label designs. I am not sure if the designs are mixed in all the flavors that they are releasing for this limited edition or there are two per flavor for the three flavors they are releasing the labels on.

I am not much of a Gatorade drinker nor I am much into basketball, however I once did watch basketball and that was when Jordan was on the Bulls. I think I will try to track down all these Gatorade bottles, which are to be released in the millions at supermarkets, convenience stores, and Walmarts, to add them to my bottle collection in my kitchen.

Special Edition Doritos Late Night Flavors

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

The other day at Target I found some Special Edition Doritos flavors. Both are called Late Night. The one is called Last Call Jalapeno Popper, which I did not even care to get because it sounded too spicy for me. The other flavor is called Tacos at Midnight. That flavor sounded interesting enough to buy and try. Of course, we were going to get some sort of Doritos either way because they were on sale and we needed snacks for our trip.

Special Edition Tacos at Midnight DoritosThe Tacos at Midnight flavor really does taste like tacos, but best thing is that there is no meat in it. It basically has all the seasonings of a taco. The ingredients to make the taco flavor include tomato powder, sour cream, onion powder, paprika, cheddar cheese, and Swiss cheese. Overall they taste great, but Cool Ranch is still my favorite Doritos flavor.
