Limited Edition Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Limited Edition Strawberry Cheesecake Ice CreamA few weeks ago I bought the Dreyer’s Limited Edition Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. I tend to like cheesecake and I like strawberries, but boy was this a disappointing to almost disgusting flavor. The main thing is the base ice cream has a sort of odd flavor. I guess it is supposed to taste like cheesecake, but it does not taste like any cheesecake I have ever had. The first few bites every time are almost disgusting to the point of not wanting to eat it, but somehow it gets to be okay. The thing that really makes this a still edible flavor is the pieces of pie crust, however, I really wish there were more pieces of pie crust, as they are kind of sparse. The strawberry flavor to it is the syrupy strawberry swirl type thing, which is not too bad, but also kind of sparse. Bottom line is the odd tasting base does not work with the minimal flavor add ins.

Spiderwick Chronicles Limited Time Airheads Flavors

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Spiderwick Chronicles AirheadsI thought the Rock Your Mouth Airheads I posted about yesterday were an old find, but it turns out the Spiderwick Chronicles Airheads I picked up at the same gas station are even older. The Airheads promote the movie coming to theaters in February 2008. All I can say is Airheads age nicely and do not harden any more than normal even though they are over a year old. I know that Laffy Taffy gets unbearably hard in less than a year, but Airheads seem to take much longer to end up hard, as these are still fine.

The Spiderwick Chronicles Airheads pack has two limited time flavor Airhead bars and one of 4 Mystery Movie Puzzles (mine was 4 of 4). There are two different limited time flavors, but only one type of packaging. The flavor inside can be Sweet as Honey? or Hoppin Mad? You cannot tell which until you open the packs and see the color of the Airhead bar. Each pack of 6 should have two of the bars. My pack ended up with one of the Sweet as Honey? colored orangish and one of the Hoppin Mad? colored red.

The Sweet as Honey? flavor is not all that interesting. It is kind of just an extra sweet flavor with perhaps a little hint of honey flavor, but really it does not taste much like honey at all. The Hoppin Mad? flavor has a strong cinnamon flavor to it a lot like Big Red gum. The Hoppin Mad cinnamon scent is so strong I figured out Hoppin Mad meant cinnamon before I even opened it to taste. While the cinnamon scent might give it away, it seems to have leaked to the rest of the package, so they all kind of smell like cinnamon from the outside.

Rock Your Mouth Limited Time Airheads Flavors

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Rock Your Mouth AirheadsI know this is an old Limited Time release of Airheads, but ever since the Hotel for Dogs Airheads I have been trying to find some new Airheads release promoting a movie or well anything. Last weekend I found the Rock Your Mouth ones at a gas station. Yeah, they must have been sitting there a while because the Gamefly contest related to these limited time flavors went from last summer to this January. I think I saw them when they were current releases and not just stale product still on shelves in some places, but I never posted about them.

The Rock Your Mouth Airheads have two special flavors. One is called Flaming Hot. It is an orange colored Airhead in a red package. It is a pretty bland flavor, but you can definitely feel a little bit of a flaming spiciness to it. The other is Slammin’ Sour. This one is a green Airhead in a green package. It is also rather bland of a flavor and the sour aspect is pretty lame, too. Basically these Rock Your Mouth flavors are major let downs. Not only are they way blander than the normal Airhead flavors, but the names of Flaming Hot and Slammin’ Sour are majorly misrepresented. Lastly the whole Rock Your Mouth aspect makes it seem like they should be flavorful and totally live up to the names of Flaming Hot and Slammin’ Sour. Thus the whole naming of these limited time flavors really add to the let down of them being so darn bland. Usually the limited time flavors are at least a good as the regular flavors, but these are sad. At least they are regular Airhead soft after all these months.

Limited Edition Malibu Get Your Island On Bottle

Friday, April 17th, 2009

MalibuMalibu Rum’s current advertising campaign is being called “Get Your Island On.” Part of their campaign encouraging consumers to get their island on includes the release of a limited edition bottle of Malibu for this summer. The limited edition bottle has a design described as bright, vibrant, and contemporary. The design also features four Malibu cocktail recipes, which are said to be easy to make ones that can help consumers make summer cocktails at home to get their island on. It sounds like these recipes are meant to be simple and include very minimal ingredients. This limited edition bottle is expected to be available starting May 2009 and throughout the summer months, which I assume means through at least August. The limited edition Malibu bottles will be sold in United Kingdom multiple grocers.
